Plagiarism Policy

Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Global Ilmiah will be screened for plagiarism using the Turnitin plagiarism detection tool. Jurnal Global Ilmiah will immediately reject manuscripts that show evidence of plagiarism or self-plagiarism.

Jurnal Global Ilmiah aims to ensure that all authors are careful and adhere to the international standards of academic integrity, particularly concerning plagiarism. Plagiarism occurs when an author takes ideas, information, or words from another source without giving appropriate credit to that source. Even if done unintentionally, plagiarism is still a serious academic offense and is unacceptable in international scholarly publications.

When authors take ideas from other authors, citations are still required even if the authors later develop those ideas further. Such ideas may involve ways of interpreting data, methodologies used, or conclusions drawn. They could also include broader developments in a field or general information. Whatever the form of the idea, the author must cite the source. In cases where the author develops the idea further, it is still necessary to cite the original source of the idea and then, in subsequent sentences, explain how the author’s own idea expands upon it.

When authors use the words of others, both citation and quotation marks are required. Whenever four or more consecutive words are identical to those from a source the author has read, quotation marks must be used to indicate the use of original wording from another author; citation alone is insufficient.

Policy

Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Any material taken verbatim from another source must be clearly distinguished from the current original text by using (1) indentation, (2) quotation marks, and (3) source identification.

Any text that exceeds fair use standards (defined here as more than two or three sentences or their equivalent) or graphic material reproduced from another source requires permission from the copyright holder and, whenever possible, the original author. The source must also be identified — for example, through a prior publication reference.

When Plagiarism is Identified

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for reviewing papers in which plagiarism has been detected and will approve actions based on the level of plagiarism found, according to the following guidelines:

Level of Plagiarism

1. Minor:
   A short section from another article is plagiarized without significant data or ideas taken.
   Action: A warning is issued to the author, requesting text revision and proper citation of the original article.

2. Moderate:
   A substantial portion of another paper is plagiarized without proper citation to the original work.
   Action: The submitted article is rejected, and the author is prohibited from submitting further articles for one year.

3. Severe:
   Most of the paper is plagiarized, involving reproduction of results or original ideas presented in another publication.
   Action: The paper is rejected, and the author is banned from submitting further articles for five years.

Jurnal Global Ilmiah takes academic integrity very seriously. The editors reserve the right to withdraw any manuscript found to violate the above standards. For more information, prospective authors may contact the editorial office.
